About RetroFoam™ Wall Insulation

RetroFoam™ is a world leading next generation foam insulation specifically designed to provide cavity wall insulation in both timber frame & traditional brick / block cavity construction. It is ideally suited for buildings of timber frame construction which have been traditionally "hard to treat" - this is achieved by injecting the foam into the stud cavity rather than the cavity between the internal timber frame and the external wall.

The unique formulation allows its application even when other insulation products such as mineral wool exist. Its use, however, is not entirely limited to external walls, as it can be used in internal stud walls to improve their acoustic and fire retarding qualities.

The product can also be used in traditional built housing stock where it is injected directly into the wall cavity itself. Injected under pressure in a shaving foam consistency, RetroFoam™ seals all the air leakage paths that exist due to deteriorated insulation, lack of insulation or where the original installation process has been less than effective.

It is widely recognised that up to 35% of the heat produced in the home is lost through the external wall of a property which, not only is costing you money every month, it’s also having a negative effect on the environment. As we are living in an age where we are all looking to save money and also reduce carbon emissions by using RetroFoam™ we can all play our part.

Retro
Foam™ was introduced into the UK from the US in 2010 where its unique, innovative technology has been researched and developed over 35 years of practical experience in the marketplace. The results of this work have culminated in the delivery of a cost effective insulation solution to homes and businesses worldwide through a network of highly trained technicians.

A major benefit of RetroFoam™ over other cavity insulation options is that it does not break down or sag within the wall structure, in fact it will last as long as the building does. More importantly however, the alternative to using RetroFoam™ as a retrofit option in timber frame buildings is to remove the existing plasterboard wall boards and skirtings around the perimeter of the building, strip out the old insulation, replace with new insulation and refit everything back together.

This process is time consuming, costly, disruptive and very messy especially in rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms where all fixtures need to be removed.

With RetroFoam™ foam insulation, everything is left in place. No fuss, no mess no hassle.

Retro
Foam™ is a plastic foam containing millions of tiny air cells. Within minutes of injecting the liquid foam into the wall cavity, it sets to form a firm, resilient filling, containing millions of tiny bubbles of still air. These act like pockets of air trapped between the feathers of a duck, which act as insulation within the wall cavity, preventing airflow and heat loss. Once installed, RetroFoam™ insulation will go on working for decades with absolutely no maintenance.

To ensure peace of mind RetroFoam™ is backed by a lifetime product guarantee and all work carried out by our technicians carries an insurance backed guarantee.

RetroFoam™ is by far the most cost effective and successful retrofit solution to cavity insulation for timber frame construction dwellings in the UK today.

When compared to the alternative of stripping out fixtures, removing plasterboard and skirtings, replacing sub-standard insulation and then replacing plasterboard and skirtings there really is no comparison.

Not only is RetroFoam™ likely to be half the cost, the disruption caused in carrying out the work described above would have a major impact on any household. With RetroFoam UK there is no fuss and no hassle.

  • Not only does RetroFoam™ impact positively on the environment by reducing a home’s carbon footprint in terms of wasted energy but the product itself has also some green credentials to be proud of.

In its mixed state it is fully bio-degradable and to ensure we go beyond what is required by current legislation we even transport the raw products in bio-degradable bags.
